Centuries in the making

The bluestone of this table top originated when the southern half of present-day Belgium was submerged under a shallow, tropical sea. The marine life you can see as small white fossils, was alive 350 million years ago. The oak tree we made the bench from had been growing for over 200 years. Oak trees have been growing in this way for 50 million years. These wondrous materials come from deep in time, and to our young human race are essentially timeless. Maybe that’s why we feel so grounded when we’re close to them, especially when they have a primitive appearance.

See more examples of these beautiful materials in use in our finish library.
